How to Produce Car License Plates?

Step 1: Produce the blanks with automatic production line.

Material Needed: Aluminum coil, reflective film coil.

  • Decoiler for decoiling the aluminum coil.

  • Straightener for straightening the curved aluminum strip.

  • Laminator for pasting the reflective film on to the aluminum strip.

  • Feeder for feeding the aluminum strip at a defined length to the press machine.

  • Toolings for cutting the aluminum strip into the shape of the plates.

  • Press machine for toolings to have enough power to cut the aluminum strip.

  • Conveyor belt for transporting the plate blanks to the automatic laser marker machine.

  • Automatic laser marker machine for laser marking the blank plates and stacking them into a pile.

Space needed: Length at 20 meters, width at 6 meters, height at 3.5 meters.

Nowadays, there are more and more vehicles on the street that needs license plates, from 4-wheelers to 3 wheelers, even 2-wheelers. Meanwhile, labor cost is rising rapidly.

In this article, we will explain how modern technology helps you produce car license plates with the least labor and highest efficiency.

Step 2: Customize each plate.

Equipment needed: Embossing machine and hot printing machine.

Space needed: 1*1 meters per station.

Employee needed: 1-2 according to your quantity demand.

Layout of Complete Vehicle License Plate Production Line

Equipment layout is shown as the picture below.

First in the line is the Decoiler machine. The metal coil will be loaded on the decoiler machine, and the sensor will control the decoiling speed automatically.

Second in the line is the Precision Straightener machine. As the metal strip curves after packed into coil, straightening it is necessary. The metal strip goes through the straightening rollers in the straightener machine. The precision straightener machine will straighten the strip. The sensor will control the straightening speed automatically.

Third in the line is the Laminator machine. The reflective film has glue on the back, and will be pasted to the metal strip in this process. As the technology advanced, traditional heating process for pasting the reflective film is no longer needed.

Forth in the line is the Press Feeder machine mounted on the Punch Press machine. Together mounted is the dies for cutting the metal strip into metal blanks. The feeding speed and feeding pitch can be set in the control system.

Fifth in the line is the conveyor belt. After the punch press machine, the metal strip is cut into blanks. The conveyor belt will transport the blanks to the automatic laser marker machine.

Sixth in the line is the Automatic Laser Marker machine with destacker and stacker. This machine will automatically find the right place to laser mark, and stack the plates afterwards. And here is the end of the automatic process.

Next are manual processes.

You will have the Engraving machine (also called hydraulic press machine) and the moulds. This machine can engrave the letters and numbers that you need for the plates. Since each plate has a different number, you will need to change the moulds each time.

You will also have the Hot Printing machine (also called hot stamping machine). This machine use hot printing technology to color the letters and numbers on the plates. Hot print film (also called hot stamping foil) is consumed in this process.

If you need holographic sticker on the plates, you will also need the Holographic Sticker machine.
